Frequently Asked Questions About Kitchen Spraying

    What is Kitchen Spraying?

A kitchen respray is a fantastic way to transform an old, tired kitchen without the high cost of fitting new cabinets and cupboards. Using spray guns and airless spraying technology, you can coat cabinets, doors, plinths and drawers to provide a ‘factory finish’ and greatly extend the life of your existing kitchen.

The process involves removing cabinet doors and panels, then stripping back any layers of ground in dirt and grease. Once the surfaces have been completely cleaned, any chips are filled and a layer of primer is applied ready for painting.

The paint is then applied using a pressurised spray gun, delivering an even coating across all surfaces. Using airless spraying technology, a single spray painted coating can deliver a sealed ‘factory finish’ look.

One of the best ways to transform a home is with a change of colour and a kitchen respray can do just this. It’s environmentally friendly and cost-effective when compared to a full replacement kitchen, helping you to achieve that dream kitchen for less.

Kitchen respraying cabinets is a great way to extend the lifespan of your kitchen and on average costs £3000. However, this can vary depending on the size of your kitchen and the number of cabinets that require painting.

Even if your cabinets are cracked or chipped we can help, and spraying your kitchen, instead of replacing it, can save you up to 80% in the final cost of a new kitchen.

There are other factors that will decide on the final cost of professional kitchen spraying, these include:

    • Size and number of cabinets
    • Material of your cabinets
    • Individual kitchen and cabinet designs
    • Amount of preparatory and corrective work required to existing kitchen cabinets
    • The layout of your kitchen
    • Your location

A professionally resprayed kitchen can last anywhere from 5 to 15 years, depending on a number of factors.

The main factor is the quality of the paints that are used. We only use high-quality and durable paints which ensure your resprayed kitchen will be more resistant to wear and fading, significantly extending its lifespan. At The Spraying Company, we exclusively use TC266 – 2PK Polyacrylic High Adhesion Paints, a superior-grade paint product selected for its exceptional longevity and adhesion properties.

As well as the paint you use, the way in which the paint is applied is key to a long-lasting respray. Our expert team specialise in the surface preparation and paint application to provide a smooth, uniform finish that is properly sealed against weathering.

At The Spraying Company, we provide a minimum two year workmanship guarantee with some products providing a 10 year guarantee, so you can enjoy your new kitchen with complete peace of mind.

There are pros and cons to hand painting and spray painting kitchen cabinets depending on your personal preferences.

Hand painting with a brush can be more cost effective when looking at smaller kitchens and also provide a rustic finish to suit more traditionally styled spaces. This method takes more time than spray coating though and will not provide the same smooth finish.

For a faster application process and durable, even coating, the preferred application is a spray finish. Using specialised equipment and professional expertise, you can achieve a ‘factory finish’ in a single coat. You also won’t need to worry about brush marks or any dried in bristles.

Spray painting a kitchen is much quicker when compared to hand painting or fitting a new one. A single coat applied with a spray gun can provide the same as six coats using a brush.

Normally a small to medium sized kitchen can be sprayed onsite within one day, with larger kitchens taking two or three days. Using airless spraying technology, paint is applied at very high pressures enabling faster application and drying than hand painting.

Our expert team will be able to refit all your cupboards, drawers and other fittings on the same day, leaving you with minimal disruption and the best possible finish.

We not only spray paint wooden kitchen doors, we can also spray MDF kitchen doors, laminate kitchen doors, melamine kitchen doors and vinyl wrapped doors as long as the vinyl is in sound condition.

Don’t worry, if you do have vinyl kitchen cupboards that are damaged and in poor condition, we can take the vinyl off, repair any damage and spray the original door which will come out factory new.

Yes, kitchen spraying is highly recommended for transforming laminate cabinets. It can give them a modern, brand new look without the cost of a full replacement.

Laminate cabinets are non-porous and have a smooth, slick surface, so proper preparation is key before kitchen cabinet spraying. This process includes thorough cleaning to remove grease and contaminants, followed by careful sanding to create a key that allows the paint to adhere properly.

Yes, at The Spraying Company your colour options are limitless as we can colour match to all major brands, from Farrow & Ball to Little Greene, Dulux and so much more.

We’re also able to match and RAL colour and custom mix colours to fit your exact requirements, meaning your dream kitchen can become a reality in no time.

You can look after your sprayed kitchen cabinets just like any other kitchen – they’re hardwearing and stand the test of time.

However, we do recommend cleaning your cabinets and drawers with mild solutions and warm water, avoiding harsh chemicals and solvents to ensure your bespoke kitchen stays gleaming for years to come.
